While the New York Giants are still waiting for Aaron Rodgers to make his decision in free agency, the front office is making sure they are prepared to pivot.
Last week, the Giants hosted free-agent quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Joe Flacco for visits as Rodgers pondered his decision. With the four-time MVP still mulling over his decision, the Giants are bringing in another intriguing option for a visit.
The Giants reportedly are scheduled to host Jameis Winston for a visit Tuesday, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Winston would certainly be an entertaining option to bring into the mix this offseason. The main priority is still to use the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on an incoming rookie to take over as the franchise player.
Even with his flaws of turning the ball over, he would be an upgrade over what the Giants had under center last season with Daniel Jones, Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito.
The 31-year-old earned a Pro Bowl nod during his rookie campaign in 2015 and threw for 5,109 yards in his final season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 12 games (seven starts) during the 2024 season, Winston completed 61.1% of his passes for 2,121 yards, 13 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and an 80.6 passer rating with the Cleveland Browns.
Spotrac currently projects Winston to land a two-year, $12 million deal in free agency.
