Fans excitedly awaited Beyoncé to take the stage at a rally in Houston to endorse Kamala Harris.

Rumors swirled online that Beyoncé would be performing at the rally – prompting fans to wait in line for 12 hours outside the arena. The Single Ladies singer was introduced by her mother, Tina Knowles, and Beyoncé headed to the podium with surprise guest, her Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland.

Beyoncé gave a passionate speech about being a mother and wanting the best for her children’s future. She’s the latest musician to endorse Kamala for president after Eminem and Bruce Springsteen attended previous rallies for the democratic candidate.

Its time to sing a new song. A song that began 248 years ago. The old notes of downfall, discord, despair no longer resonate. Our moment right now, Beyoncé said, Its time for America to sing a new song. Our voices sing a chorus of unity.

While she spoke of singing, the 43-year-old didn’t do the act. She left the stage after her speech and Kamala replaced her. According to people who were at the event, attendees left the rally after Beyoncé was done and they were not happy.

“Bait and switch crowd building,” one person wrote on X, formally known as Twitter: “Promised a performance to bring people in and they went streaming to the exits when Beyoncé left the stage.”

“Wow, Beyoncé just made a speech, left and Kamala spoke? No performance at all? That is unbelievable,” another said. A third added: “Can you post Beyoncé’s performance at Kamala’s concert? Oh, nvm the fans never got one song.”

Others poked fun at those who wanted a show, writing: “Yall thought y’all were gonna catch a free Beyoncé concert.” Fans might have expected Beyoncé to sing as she previously performed at a rally in 2016 for then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Many expected her to sing her song Freedom this time around since it’s been featured in various campaign ads for Kamala. During her speech, Beyoncé told the crowd: “Im not here as a celebrity, Im not here as a politician. Im here as a mother.”

“A mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live in, a world where we have the freedom to control our bodies, a world where were not divided,” she continued.
